To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Barretts Esophagus I have suffered with heartburn and acid reflux for years. I was taking prilosec, or tums or both together for years. I was having back spasms and pain in my chest, up my arm and neck. I went to the doctors for my back and just mentioned that I get heartburn/acid reflux pretty bad. He asked me how often it occurred and in my own ignorance I laughed and toled him “everyday”. He questioned me to make sure I was serious….I was. He immediately sent me to a Gastro doctor and told me that my back problems are being irritated by the muscles in my stomach. I went to the Gastro doctor and he immediately called for and EDG. I had the test done and low and behold I have GERD Hiatel Hernia and unfortunately I messed with this too long and I was also diagnosed with Barretts Esophagus. I now go for EDG every year without fail and will be on meds for the rest of my life. In process of taking these meds I have become severaly anemic, which is now better, but Barretts has complicsted some things. Don’t wait, if you feel lousy…get to a doctor. I never realized that having Acid Reflux would cuase soooooo much trouble later. Comments
